Some Midnight Thoughts

Okay... well fine, Its 3:23 am as of when I'm starting this, but midnight has much more of a ring to it than "3:23 am Thoughts". Technically its the middle of the night for me.. so I see it as appropriate. At any rate, I just got back home from teh Russell's. Took an epic walk from his residence on Dekrafft to mine on Green which I have to say is quite the journey. As I walked and thought about various things, jamming out to Placebo and the like, I decided it was time to write a bit about things, as I haven't done it in awhile. First off, I apologize to those of you who have never read my ramblings beforehand as they may come as quite a shock to you. The heavy use of ellipsis is something you're just going to have to deal with, plain and simple. Yes I know its a bad habit... Yes i know it can be annoying... but once you get over that you may find something of worth in my random rants. Anyways, just had to get that out of the way for the newcomers.

First off, I'd like to talk a bit about life happenings, so for those of you who don't care, its time to skip to the next paragraph (which I'm sure will be about something far more interesting). To be honest, life is pretty good right now, but in that stagnant 'I'm comfortable but I wish more was going on' kind of way. It seems life is kind of at a stand still, sure small things week to week change, but the overall picture is kinda quiet at the moment. Sure its a nice respite from the normal drama of things, which to be honest isn't totally absent as one may think at first glance, but I kind of wish there was more. I guess this has a lot to do with the fact that I'm currently out of school which gives me lots more time for various things. It also doesn't help that I still don't have my license, which cripples me more than I could have anticipated. Many people tell me they couldn't imagine life without a car or license and let me tell you, its not exactly easy. I'm working on rectifying this situation, I've gone and practiced a bit with my mother's vehicle (which I totally massacred cones with the last time I took the test) but really things haven't progressed there as fast as I'd like them to. Really its a huge scheduling conflict, I'm busy, and when I'm not busy, the keeper of the vehicle is busy, and when neither is busy, often there's other stuff going on and it just doesn't end up working. The overall goal there though is to get my license before summer is out. Its really essential to my plans if I hope to go to school in GR either by commuting or living there. On the school subject, I'm planning on going back soon, most likely in the Winter for Digital Animation and Game Design or something similar. I've really only 85%  decided. From the way I see it, whatever I get my degree in is something that I should be happy doing everyday, and I shouldn't have any problem devoting lots of my time to it. I'm not completely sure as of yet if I could work for a company that pays me for my creative abilities. Sure It'd be awesome to design characters or make models all day and be in an environment with tons of brilliant creative people, but I feel like I'd sort of lose something with the company owning everything I produce. Idk, maybe its that "I don't want to be a sellout" thing in the way that musicians feel just before they get signed to a label. I guess that's just something I'll have to figure out on my own, but its a concern to me nonetheless. Other than the school subject work has been pretty decent to be honest. Aside from the random hours I get and the occasional irritating customer, things are good there. The job really isn't that hard, and I get paid pretty decently. I mean, I get to spend all day BS'ing with people and listening to music. Sure I also have to stock and clean, but that gives me time to reflect and think about everything I need to. Also, I'm just kind of happy I have a job when so many don't currently. So, In summary life is good, but kinda meh at the same time.. Now on to the subject of Music.

As I mentioned earlier, I walked home from Russ' tonight and along the way I listened to music on my new phone ( which is pretty kickass btw, Nokia 3600 Slide FTW ). Placebo was the main band of choice for the journey, but in actuality if I had more on there, Relient K would have replaced them for the duration. As I was listening and singing along to a few tracks off MmHmm I realized I should stop dogging them so much. They honestly have quite a few great songs that really impact me both lyrically and musically. So there it is, Relient K is actually worth your time, go listen, just ignore their Debut album, Aside from a few standout tracks, its really mediocre and far to preachy for my tastes. While I'm thinking about it, Chevelle has a new single out titled "Jars" which will be on their new album "Sci-Fi Crimes" Which is slated for release in September. The track to me was kinda meh for the first one or two listens. After that it started to hook me. I like the overall sound that the track brings and I hope that its just a taste of what's to come. Another band that has caught my ear as of late is Justice. They're an electro group that's in the vein of Daft Punk, MSTRKRFT, and Benny Benassi. I'd really suggest their track "Let There Be Light" which starts as a pretty funky, nu-disco dance techno track. This builds up to an epic though much quieter synth solo which seriously causes me to turn it up twice as loud every time. Other standout tracks to me include Phantom, DVNO, and Genesis (the opener for their album "Cross").

And to close, my top 10 tracks for the week, courtesy of Last.FM.

1. Chevelle - Jars
2. Placebo - Kings of Medicine
3. Weezer - The Angel and the One
4. Placebo - The Never Ending Why
5. Weezer - Dreamin'
6. Justice - Let There Be Light
7. Placebo - Speak in Tongues
8. Justice - Phantom (Parts 1 and 2)
9. Justice - One Minute to Midnight
10. Justice - Genesis

Also... Xanga, I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK ...

For how long is to be determined, but at any rate its been a nice visit. Its nice to look back and see snapshots of your life from a few years ago. How I simultaneously do and don't miss those times...

This is Kola Signing off...

EDIT: For as much of a warning as I gave, after re-reading this entry I realize that I've kinda kicked the ellipsis habit. +1 to readability, -1 to fragmented thoughts and overall reader confusion.

Wouldn't you Miss me? Wouldn't you miss me at all?

Hmmm... I guess its time for a short update... Well.. lets see.. since we left off I've completed my first semester of college. How successful I was is another thing, but its done, in the books, never to come again, and I'm pretty glad actually. To tell you the honest truth I really am not a huge fan of college so far.. well at least the class part. The rest of the semi-freedom college gives you is pretty cool though I guess.. and my new job is teh pwn. I mean, I get to work on computers all day and bs with other co-workers about technology and gaming. Tons of fun. Anydangways... but on the whole.. life's pretty.. meh. Maybe because of the fact that I've had so much drama going on at all times that when suddenly there isn't for a long period of time.. things feel kinda stale. Also yet again, school sucks, but even more so due to the fact that I pay for it now.. lulz. I'm really not looking forward to being in debt for at least a decade after I graduate due to my loans. *Sigh* damn I sound kinda negative today. Meh.. anydangways.. short update over.. I'll post again soon in the coming weeks, as I kinda miss ranting in this thing.

To All of those still listening,

Noobs.

Well Since you don't feel like you can go to my new site... I'll post the whole damn entry here.... Losers...

Yep... Its that time again... So.. lets begin with the change of scenery... what do you guys think? Gonna actually comment and tell me if you like it? You should... you know you want to... It'll be fun... /peer pressure... alrighty then... well anydangways... Currently I'm just chilling at home.. its about 5 in the morning... I'm now realizing I have work in less than 12 hours.... and will be sitting there in 12 hours... Which brings me to the first subject

Work... ah yes... one's way of making money... a blessing and a curse... a total time suck whilst simultaneously allowing one to do the things one likes to do... Work as of late has been a bit different... as many of you know I work at Clark, a local gas station.. for about a year or so I was a stocker but more recently I've been put on the register... which is a whole different world... Well.. what are the benefits to this position you may ask? Well... a slightly higher wage (7.40 something ish... idk i haven't really checked my paystub lately) and more hours... The disadvantages? Well.. Paperwork... Bottles (Really Fuxingz Sick... Just ask me sometime if you want details).. The Cigarette Count... More dealings with customers... ( 95.55% of them are alright... even kind of cool.. but the other 4.55% of them just simply serve to annoy the piss out of me...) and well... um... more hours... The Till (or Register for the layman) isn't really that bad I guess... It just has some really terrible downsides... Its a love hate sort of thing... anyways.. I'm hoping to get out of there soon... as there are a few openings at the FSU Technology departments... hopefully I can score a job there doing something I really enjoy doing... and maybe learn a few things there in the process... Speaking of Pc's some new things there....

Well.. I've been mostly preparing for BRLAN... which is coming up later this month on the 28th... which all of you should attend... yes.. that means you... no not you there who has no interest in games... you.. who has always considered going to a LAN but never have... You who has oftentimes wondered what's so great about these gatherings... Its you who should be there... so.. um... BE THERE... Here's a Link you can >>>CLICK<<< on to sign up... So do so if you haven't already... oh.. and did I mention its for charity? Yeah... All the $$ we make will be going directly to the Renucci Hospitality House which is for terminally ill patient's families... it gives them a place to stay whilst their loved ones are hospitalized away from home... So.. support the good cause and come out to BRLAN... /salespitch

Okay... next topic... i guess Its time for something random... so how about what I'm listening to right now? Well.. you may have already guessed... its Pink Floyd... Echoes is the song... off the album Meddle... The beginning of what would become the Floyd we know and love... well.. the one most people know... The Floyd has been through alot of changes... and has alot of different styles... but this was really when they started to come into their own... idk.. this song... its just so.. perfect... a little slow for a few of you I'm sure... and the middle section is kinda odd for those of you not used to the Floyds' random interludes of random sounds.... but the whole song is great.. it echoes (no pun intended) the Floyd's later work on Shine on you Crazy Diamond and Time... Really great song... I'd reccomend it to anyone... and if you get a chance to listen to the live in pompeii version >>>LINKY<<< ... This version is by far the best... In the album version.. it sounds like they're on the brink of just "Jamming Out" a great deal of the time... but in when they're live... they hold nothing back with this song... Nick Mason goes completly crazy on the drums near the end of this clip... freaking sweet....

Alright... so... lets see.. new life stuff... Well.. unfortunately there really isn't much... Things pretty much are.. as they are always... Its one of the off weeks for my siblings... so they're at my dad's for another 2 weeks... Kinda nice yet it kinda sucks at the same time... Lets see... Hmmm... Not much there really..

And I guess... For You Long Time Xanga-ites... I'll post Tunes Tuesday... though its technically wednesday....
